Why RTP?

The Research Triangle Park (RTP) region of North Carolina has been the focus of much development since its founding in 1959. The magnetism of academic, economic, and innovative opportunity has been fuel for meteoric population growth in the triangle region for decades, with RTP at the triangle's center.

Whereas RTP was previously seen as a commuter work destination, it is now pushing to become a "live, play, work" center in its own right. Waves of residential and commercial development continue to attract people from all around the world.

MORE ABOUT RTP

Who We Are

1

Biblical

The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible word, breathed out by him through human authors. Maximally glorifying God requires humble submission to Scripture, so our desire is to root everything in the Bible as our supreme authority.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

2

Expositional

The Holy Spirit uses Scripture to save sinners, sanctify saints, and increase our fruitfulness in service to Christ. Sermons, therefore, will be expositional in nature, seeking to expose the truth of God’s Word through exhortation and encouragement.

2 Timothy 3:15-17; Psalm 19:11

3

Missional

Jesus has entrusted the worldwide spread of the gospel to every church and every disciple. We are committed to obeying that command to take the gospel to our neighbors and to the nations by praying, giving, and going as the Lord leads through local outreach, service to our community, and cross-cultural missions.

Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8

4

Kingdom Minded

Heaven will be filled with people from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation giving praise to God for eternity. The Research Triangle Park area is very diverse, and our hope is that our church will reflect this heavenly future by displaying and declaring the love of Christ to all peoples. We further pray God would be pleased to use us to establish other likeminded, international churches in the area with whom we can partner to cross linguistic and cultural barriers and display kingdom unity.

Revelation 5:9-10, 7:9-10

5

Relationally Intentional

When we come to faith in Christ, we are adopted as sons and daughters of God and brought into a family. The church is not only God’s plan for kingdom advance, but is also his gift to us as we make progress in the Christian life. All church members should know and be known, and meaningful membership means everyone is playing an active role in the church’s health and mission.

Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12:25-27; Romans 12:1-21

LEARN MORE
  • The Scriptures

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

  • God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

  • Man

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

  • Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

  • God's Purpose of Grace

Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility.

All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.
